St. Louis Photography StudioListed on the National Register of Historical Places, Studio Altius is brimming with historical character. Built in 1905, the studio was once Milligan's Million Article Hardware Store, a thriving turn-of-the-century establishment situated at a whistle stop of the Missouri Pacific railroad line. The building itself has been meticulously rehabbed to the highest of historical standards by Architect Patrick Jugo, giving Studio Altius all the capabilities of a fully equipped studio as well as the undeniable character of a piece of St. Louis history. The studio itself is a flexible space, designed to accomodate photography shoots, small video productions, art exhibitions, casting and auditions, various classes, presentations, cocktail parties, and small receptions. Studio Altius has 11' ceilings and about 1800 sq ft of space that can be configured in many ways. The studio also has one restroom/dressing room; a reception area; a conference area; and WIFI internet access. The backlot has beautiful gardens, a large brick wall, and plenty of space for outdoor activities. Studio Altius operates four main areas of business within its main building in Maplewood. 1. Services to Professional Photographers. This includes studio and equipment rental, events, job leads, marketing assistance, contests, workshops, and a studio supply store where various supplies and photographic equipment can be purchased by professionals for a discount over other retail camera shops. 2. Portrait, Wedding, and Commercial Photography. Our in-house photography services cater to both retail and commercial clients. These services include wedding photography, portraiture for families, high school seniors, and businesspeople/executives; model and actor portfolios/comp cards, fine art, commercial and advertising photography, and stock photography. David J. Cerven, the owner and main photographer at Studio Altius, specializes in studio photography and is joined by another 16 photographers and digital artists to provide amazing wedding and event photography. 3. Fine Art Gallery. Dedicated to increasing the appreciation and commerce of fine art of all media, Studio Altius maintains a regular schedule of art exhibitions and gallery events throughout the year. Collections range from group shows of emerging local artists to solo exhibits of established national and international artists. 4. Event Rental. The studio is available to rent for regular classes, business presentations, fundraising events, cocktail parties, happy hours, socials, receptions, small musical performances, and the like.
