Studio Altius News – August 2010

Thursday, August 12th, 2010 | Events, Workshops/Classes | No Comments

Studio Altius News and Events:

Hello photographers!  Here is your monthly update with all of the events, workshops, and other fun things happening over here at Studio Altius.  If you have not yet stopped by on a Friday evening to check out the St. Louis Photographers Showcase, then you are missing a great experience!  Feel free to check out the full fall calendar at www.studioaltius.com/news.

ST. LOUIS PHOTOGRAPHERS SHOWCASE
The summer season is going great.  We are seeing some really tight races in the Professional Division among former movie industry production guru Benjamin Trevor and SEEN grand prize winners David McWhirter (2008) and Julie Enstall (2009); Semi-Pro Division among former roommates Kate Hargis of ksh designs and Emily Benner (photography teacher at Lafayette High), and last season’s showcase points leader Alan Webb; and Student Division rivalry between WashU’s Chang Jang and Webster’s Brendan Moloney.  We have also seen a relative juggernaut emerge out of the Amateur division…Erin Kawell is leading her division by several thousand points (although Jessica McCaskill is trying to narrow that gap the past few weeks)!  Stop by on a Friday evening between 6-7:30pm and take part in the voting process here at Studio Altius!  Besides, it is a great chance to hang out with other photographers :)

Cirque du Cheveux Locks of Love Fundraising Photoshoot- BIG Success!

Monday, June 7th, 2010 | Events, Fundraiser, images | 1 Comment

As many of you know, On June 5th, 2010 we transformed Studio Altius into a photo shooting circus for Cirque du Cheveux, our Locks of Love Fundraiser. We are proud to announce that the day was a SUCCESS!!! Our stylists cut off 34 ponytails which equaled out to over 33 feet of hair to donate to Locks of Love to make wigs for children in need. In addition to the hair, we also had financial contributors who didn’t donate hair, as well as from the photos that we printed on site, which would not have been possible without the Fantastic Ray Kersting from Schiller’s.

We send out our greatest appreciation to the gracious and talented volunteers that worked the event. Without you, the day couldn’t have been possible. We also must say thank you to friends old and new and to our families who attended the event and supported us in making the day a success.

Thank you to Randall, Christina, Carol, Deborah, Noah, Griffen, Gretchen, David, Gabrielle, Alexis, Joan, Shawna, Karen, and Amelia for being brave and cutting off your ponytails!

Thank you to Paul, James, Melanie, Ashley, Michelle, Ricca, and the 2 ladies that came out from Clayton on short notice for doing all of the fantastic new short styles!

Thank you to Boo the Clown, Meg-A-Legs, Tome the Mime, Julie the Fantastic Face Painter, Ray K. the Gangsta Print Maker, and D-Star Photographer Extraordinaire for making the event fun for all who attended!

Thank you to Maximus at C & C Quality Printing for donating the printing of all of the flyers and postcards that we used to promote the event around town. To A & M Salon Supply for donating the styling chair that we used on our stage to do all of the ponytail cuts. And to National City Bank in Maplewood for donating your helium tank so we could have floating balloons for the kids!

Thank you to our parents and close friends who did so much to help us with ALL of the preparations before and helped out during the event. We love you guys!
